First Aid at Work

The First Aid at Work course is recommended as the preferred requirement for all workplaces with five employees or more in medium and high risk environments and in highly populated low risk environments. This eighteen hour course is accredited by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The following aspects will be covered during the course: • The Role of a First Aider • Scene Safety • Approaching a Casualty • Assessing a Casualty • Clearing the Airway • Recovery Position • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation • Alternative Ventilation Procedures • Introduction to Automated External Defibrillation • Choking • Severe Bleeding • Shock Management • Surveys, History Taking and Physical Assessment • Respiratory Illnesses: Asthma, Hyperventialtion, Chest Injuries • Curiculatory Illnesses: Angina, Heart Attack, Stroke, Fainting • Environmental Injurues: Electrical, Burns • Enironmental Illnesses: Frostbite, Hypothermia, Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke • Nervous System Illnesses: Epilepsy and Seizures, Head and Spine • Medical Conditions: Allergies, Anaphylactic Shock, Diabetic Emergencies, Poisoning • Injuries: Eyes, Fractures, Disclocations, Sprains and Strains, Crush/Compression • Health and Safety: First Aid Kits, 'RIDDOR', 'COSHH', Accident Recording
