Paediatric First Aid Course

The Paediatric first aid course is recommended as the preferred requirement for all persons who work alongside children in any capacity. This twelve hour course is accredited by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The following aspects will be covered during the course:
• The Role of a First Aider
• Scene Safety
• Approaching a Casualty
• Assessing a Casualty
• Clearing the Airway
• Recovery Position
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: Infant, Child, Adult
• Alternative Ventilation Procedures
• Introduction to Automated External Defibrillation
• Choking: Infant, Child, Adult
• Severe Bleeding
• Shock Management
• Surveys, History Taking and Physical Assessment
• Respiratory Illnesses: Asthma, Croup, Epiglottitis, Hyperventialtion, Chest Injuries
• Environmental Injuries: Electrical, Burns
• Environmental Illnesses: Frostbite, Hypothermia, Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke
• Nervous System Illnesses: Fainting, Epilepsy and Seizures, Head and Spine, Meningitis
• Medical Conditions: Allergies, Anaphylactic Shock, Diabetes, Poisoning, Sickle Cell
• Injuries: Eyes, Fractures, Foreign Bodies, Dislocations, Sprains and Strains
• Health and Safety: First Aid Kits, Accident Recording
