LIFT OFF as Exhall firms get aerospace forum off the ground
BUSINESSES in Exhall have developed a "groundbreaking" aerospace apprenticeship programme.
Previously one company would take on a trainee who would then work with them. Now all aerospace engineering firms involved in the new Coventry and Warwickshire Aerospace Forum have teamed up to offer a "more comprehensive" approach.
Those taking part in the programme will spend time with all of the businesses during the scheme. The first trainees will start later this year. Within Coventry and Warwickshire there are some 100 companies with a combined yearly turnover of £750 million employing around 7,500 people. The new Forum, which is being given business support by Warwickshire County Council and Coventry City Council and is based at The Hub Business Centre on Bayton Road represents 15% of those firms.
