Projects
The Hub has implemented a large number of projects benefitting local companies in the area including:
Frontage Improvements
Aimed at SME businesses on Bayton Road Industrial Estate the programme was designed to assist in improving the external appearance of your business premises through a discretionary grant.
A total of £52,500 of grants has been made available to individual companies to enhance the visual impact and security of their premises' frontage.
Improvement projects have included:
Installation of roller shutter doors Replacement UPVC double glazing windows Wall cladding to cover or replace asbestos sheeting Signage New forecourts
Footpath Barriers
To improve security on the estate footpath barriers have been introduced which allows through push bikes and wheelchairs but prevents the easy passage of motorbikes.
Signage
In an innovative approach to reducing lost visitors and delivery drivers the huge estate has been divided into 4 colour-coded and numbered zones with clear signage – estate map. Several sites on the estate have multiple businesses operating from the one address. To combat confusion for visitors and delivery drivers, we have sponsored multi occupancy signs.
Energy Saving
A small pilot project was conducted on the Bayton Road Industrial Estate in conjunction with Warwickshire County Council's Resource Efficiency Training and as part of the Regional initiative, SIREN - Sustainable Innovative Resource Efficiency Network - directed at helping businesses exploit the commercial value of energy efficiency.
Smart meter loggers were installed on the gas and/or electricity supplies of all assisted companies with the hour-by-hour consumption being logged and automatically uploaded daily to a central web site to which each client company had access to view their data.
In order for businesses to use energy more efficiently and important early step is for them to be able to see their current profile of energy use. The graphs of the energy use which each client viewed on the web site resulted in a number of benefits. In one case it identified excess gas consumption due to a boiler which had become set incorrectly. In some cases it simply provided businesses the reassurance that there was no back-sliding on efforts they had undertaken to get unnecessary equipment switched off at night.
Re-use & Recycling
Reduce taxes - Waste reuse and recycling
Many of your waste materials can be reused or recycled. We can help you identify these money saving opportunities. Cartridge World Coventry are currently promoting their services in this area. Save yourselves pounds by refilling your empty printer cartridges.
The Hub can organise for your company to join any of the following recycling schemes:
Paper, card, printer cartridges, mobile phones, plastic film, solid plastics, wood, pallets, fluorescent tubes, aluminium cans.
We also work with the CREATES Project - using your waste in schools as an exciting raw material for works of art.
